And we’ll officially be heading off to the UK!
Went to pick up my passport yesterday after hearing they’d finished processing our application the night before. We had no idea whether we’d been accepted or declined, as you don’t get to find out until you get your passport back with or without the visa inside. Well when I opened it up there was the visa – along with a deadline of exactly one month to get out of here. And so we’re off to a scramble.
We actually moved into my parent’s house at the end of last week since we were expecting the papers to come pretty quickly (and they did – benefit of paying for priority!). My mom’s cat – Walker – has a bit of a track record for picking fights, and Avery has a bit of a track record for running away, so as a result, we’ve had Avery stay solely in the bedroom with us, and when we’re gone, keep the door closed until we return. The only time Avery’s allowed out into the house is when he’s on his leash and blue vest. He’s gotten used to it. Although he did run & wander out of the room when we tested him by keeping the door to our room open a few times, for the most part he has been quite good about not leaving the room without the blue vest.
Anyway, so Avery hates other cats, but having been here for a little over a week with only supervised visits with Walker and since we’re not allowing Walker ever to enter our room – things are going smoothly and Avery’s hissing a lot less at Walker.
Here’s what they look like most mornings these days – sleeping each on a dining room chair in the sun.
Walker did try to pick a fight with Avery this morning – hit him in the face gently enough to not do any damage. I just wanted to see what would happen if I let Walker get close enough and since this took place, I’m not letting him go near enough to Avery to touch him for another week. I did punish Walker just after he gently hit Avery. Not going to let him think it’s okay to do. But we’ll see if he finally learns that it’s okay to play with the other cats, but that he shouldn’t be violent.
Avery is obsessed with the sun spots, just as any cat would be. Every once in a while when he’s on the chair he’ll jump down and just flop on the most sunny spot he can find on the floor.
Too cute for words.
